Hi I'd never looked for Dr Brubaker's site before - she was mentioned to me by an old friend who's a member of staff in the archaeology/history department at Birmingham because I was hoping to identify the place and date of origin of some Turkish saddlebags which are hanging around. OK - I tried another 'photo shoot' but the pics are still a bit blurry. The embroidery is done in tiny chain stitch in gold, coral pink and bright blue thread. All circles in the pattern are actually quite tightly done spirals.  I know it's still incredibly blurry - the camera we have is pretty old. I'll see if my friend can bring her (modern!) camera over one day this week and take a decent pic

ahh yes, I think I've seen similar on modern clothing. It might be interesting to check out some of the community aid abroad shops that stock the african and asian modern traditional clothing if they're still using the same type of patterns. Thanks.
